Rex is Missing!

Hey, I’m Rex! If you don’t know me, I’m Blakely’s local drug drop box. When you have leftover or expired medications, you just swing by where I live and “feed” them to me – I store them safely until they can be permanently destroyed. And that’s it! It’s super easy and it makes me so happy when you guys visit me. And when you drop medicine in me, wow! I feel a warm glow all over my box, and I can’t stop smiling for the rest of the day.

I just don’t understand when people try to flush medicine down their toilet instead of giving it to me to store. Eventually, that medicine that gets flushed and cycles back into the water system…not cool!  Lucky for you guys, I’m here looking out for you.

It’s also bad when people leave leftover or expired drugs unprotected in their homes and forget about them. I’m going to let you in on a little secret, 70% of people who abuse prescription drugs get them from family members and friends. Really not cool! . Help me do my job and keep you all safe. All you have to do is come visit me. Pretty simple.  Do you know what happens next?  Before I get full, there’s nice people who clean me out and incinerate the medicine I’ve been storing!

How can you find me?  I live in the lobby of the Early County Jail and at the sheriff’s office in Early County Courthouse –  and it takes less than a minute to leave your unwanted medicine with me. I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon!
